The Constant Rub!

The Constant Rub!

I have told people, “It can’t stay the same and change at the same time!” And I would say if we stop and ponder we all would quickly agree. Nothing profound but this cuts deep! (Mark 10:17 – 22 The Rich Young Ruler)

Verse 21: Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad,……

There are some things that jump out of this text:

1. “….loved him.” – Are you willing to do the hard work?

2. none of us are ‘lacking’ in Christ……. answering the 'why' can be liberating!

3. My goals aren’t big enough – Results; 'going away sad' - Revelations 3:21

Do our goals line up with God’s goals for our lives….. or is there a constant rub?

"When the desire to become ______ is greater than your reasons you don't - then you are ready for change!"

Last Sunday's VIP meeting has been great to think through, here is the scripture I shared:

Hosea 4:6a says, "my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge."

And then here is what Proverbs 12:1a says,"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid!" So I think we could easily make the leap toward the "D" word, you know a word that isn't liked but is talked about A LOT - "discipline" not the punishment kind but developing and taking consistent healthy steps to be more...... at what ever is important to you! Fact is we won't be able to accomplish our "GOALS" unless we are disciplined!
So here is something to think through:
"When the desire to become ______ is greater than your reasons you don't - then you are ready!"

So where are you........

Its more than a formula-----

Being Intentional in Life!

Zig Ziglar's "Goal Setting" formula......

  1. Write it down - (Nothing happens until you write it down)
  2. Put a date on it - (Deadlines drive things!)
  3. Identify Obstacles - (Avoid the trap of setting goals that can be thwarted by circumstances beyond your control!)
  4. Identify who I have to work with (people, groups and organizations)
  5. Develop an Action Plan - (identify what you need to know - and set time line)
  6. What's in it for me -
What motivates you......... is it for personal gain or do you want God to be glorified with your life?

Are you living with purpose, are you being intentional. Do you have a 'picture' of what you want your life to look like next year?

Zig continues to says, "If you are interested in making your future match your vision you will need to set goals."

It wont happen unless you set goals............

First Workday!! Saturday August 8th!!

We are going to have our first workday at the new building this Saturday. One of the first things we want to do is paint the exterior. We will be doing at least a coat of primer this weekend....maybe paint if I can get the color sample in time. We will also start some demolition of existing walls inside. We will be starting @ about 9:00am. Please bring paint brushes, rollers, ladders, and any other painting tools we might need.

For the demolition bring sledgehammers, saws, pry bars, etc.

It is going to be a hot one on Saturday so if someone could volunteer to bring water, etc to keep the workers hydrated that would be awesome!

If you have any questions call Sam McMillan @ 864-903-5137. Sam and Jody have agree to be the point person for organizing and directing all the remodeling activities! Please give them your support.
